The Ultimate Open League Challenge Results 2017
After a season of ultra close racing the final points were calculated to find the completed standings after all eight rounds of our Ultimate Open League.
Positions could not have been closer as we went in to our finale and there was still all to play for with regards to crowning our champion with just 6 points separating Elviss Zutis in 1st and Mitchell Taylor in 2nd.
The National layout threw up a few surprises and Elviss Zutis was under pressure with lots of talent lined up on the race grid behind.
Many drivers had never raced the National configuration and the most adaptable drivers were able to pass Zutis as he made an early over-enthusiastic error allowing Michael Tarrant to take the lead and the eventual win. This then threw the entire championship on its head and nobody knew who had won the series until the points had been totalled and the awards were given on the podium.
The overall winner of the league, which has attracted 100 different competitors since February, was Mitchell Taylor who has been superbly consistent all year and scored 154 points after drop scores and the Final bonus. Elviss eventually took second place on the podium with 151 points despite many picking him out as the clear winner and Craig Nash took a very commendable third with 141 points overall.
What an amazing end to a superb season of competitive karting!
